Re: Final Fantasy
Okay. Here are my views on FF:
Final Fantasy - A truly amazing game, but did not age well.
Final Fantasy II - Was horrible since it came out.
Final Fantasy III DS - Sucked...Hated it...Was NOT designed well.
Final Fantasy VI - BEST...IN...SERIES!
Final Fantasy VII - Decent, but not phenominal
Final Fantasy VIII - The Combat was stale, but it was a really great story
Final Fantasy IX - One of my favs
Final Fantasy X - On my third play through...'Nuff said.
Final Fantasy X-2 - A fan service to the perverts who follow the series.
Final Fantasy XI - canceled my account since the game takes a SHARP decline in fun after you reach level 10.
Final Fantasy XII - One of the best in the series.
Final Fantasy XIII - I hope it comes soon...I need it.

Re: Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy - Enjoyable and fun. Go agaisnt Warmech if you dare. >=)
Final Fantasy II - *unspeakable*
Final Fantasy III DS - Though not the original, was decent enough. I thought the Warriors of Darkness (Four Horsmen?) was pretty cool.
Final Fantasy IV - Classic FF. A must play for fans.
Final Fantasy V - Underrated game. Many do not like it for the story but I see nothing wrong with it. I thought it was an enjoyable game. Faris and Galuf were the sh*t. The music was excellent. And Gilgamesh.
Final Fantasy VI - Awesome gameplay, alot of characters, wonderful music, has the greatest villain of the whole series...and yet the story felt rushed. Everything is great about this game except for rushed story. It is certainly for it's time a fabulous game and important to both the series and rpgs in general, but it is overrated storywise.
Final Fantasy VII - The first video game my parents bought me. This was when I was 7-years old (Final Fantasy VII?; released in the year of 1997? coincedence?). I knew nothing of video games and how important this game was. So even with the fact that this is possibly the greatest FF ever (or even game), it's much more than that to me. I can go on talking about this game (like how it took me...7 years to beat it; I don't kid). But to keep it short for now, the greatest game I have ever played and my favorite by far.

Re: Final Fantasy
I think the reason that most people claim VII is the best is because that was their first FF game. My first FF was X and I love the game. I would have said XII is better if not for the fact that the story was hard to follow because plot points were so far apart. A cut scene replay option would have done wonders.

Re: Final Fantasy
Most likely. VII pretty much opened the doors for the RPG genre back then. (Not to mention the pretty graphics).

Re: Final Fantasy
I really liked XII. The battle system was brilliant. The story wasn't as pretzel twisty as X's though...

Re: Final Fantasy
XII focused on being different rather than same old same old. I enjoyed it. The story was...interesting. I wouldn't want one like it again, bu it was a GREAT break from the romance stories.

Re: Final Fantasy
It was nice that they cut out all the romanticism and stuff but the characterization suffered for it. The only characters that were really well developed were Ashe, Balthier, and Bashe. It would have been nice to see Vaan fleshed out more in the course of the story, seeing as he was the flagship main character of the game. But they fixed that in Revenant Wings. RW is a brilliant game. The battle system isn't exactly like XII but it feels very similar only suited for the DS. The story is top notch too. I haven't gotten very far in it yet though. Less than half way through.
